Inter Pair and Napoli Goalkeeper Keen on Staying Put
Inter will soon have to decide whether to activate their options on Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij, while Napoli are in advanced talks to retain Alex Meret, agent Federico Pastorello told Tuttomercatoweb.
He dished on the two Nerazzurri defenders first.
“Considering how they are playing, there shouldn’t be any doubt about their future. We’ll wait for the decision by the directors and the coach. It’s up to them given the nature of the clauses. There’s a deadline. I think that both are proving to deserve to be confirmed. They want it.”
“If the club goes in a different direction, we’ll respect it. I’m sure they’ll be thankful anyway. Stefan has been at Inter for many years, Francesco for a few less, but they have both experienced big satisfaction and emotions. It’s up to the brass. We’ll take it serenely.”
Pastorello commented on Meret, for whom the extension talks with Napoli are going down to the wire.
“It has indeed been a long negotiation, but it’s normal. Both parties want the same thing, which is to continue together. In the end, that will be key to iron out the final details. I hope we’ll be able to make the announcement very soon. He has never asked us for anything different from staying put despite some requests.”
“He’s been with the Azzurri for six years and feels an integral part of the team. He’s very focused on the matches, so it’s not easy to speak with him about some topics, which bother him. That’s why it has often taken time. He wants at least a two-year contract. If you marry a project, you wish to do it with some continuity.”
