Rams add size and strength in NBC Sports mock draft
The Los Angeles Rams' 2025 NFL Draft class will be extremely important for the future of the team.
While the Rams have a great core of players on both sides of the ball, L.A. went all-in on 2025 with the Davante Adams signing and retention of Matthew Stafford. So while there are minimal needs left, the Rams would be wise to find solutions to their limited problems in the draft.
That's what NBC Sports' Connor Rogers attempted to do in his new mock draft. Rogers went through every team's picks and added the players he felt should be drafted at specific points throughout the draft.
For the Rams, he looked at the team's first three picks at Nos. 26, 90 and 101 and selected a safety, a tight end and a linebacker. He took South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori at No. 26, Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson at No. 90 and UCLA LB Carson Schwesinger at No. 101.
"Emmanwori is built like an outside linebacker despite posting testing numbers that were out of this world," Rogers wrote. "Truthfully, I think a more downhill role not only helps him, but the Rams defense as well. Ferguson has been extremely underrated during his time at Oregon as a possession and red zone threat, but also for what he does as a blocker on the move in the zone-running game. At linebacker, Schwesinger is a quick processor with ideal play speed and an impressive résumé on special teams before he became a starter.
Emmanwori and Schwesinger have been connected to the Rams in recent mock drafts already, but Ferguson is a new one.
The Rams don't have an immediate need at tight end, but Tyler Higbee is getting older and has been injured lately. Without a clear backup plan, taking a Day 2 flier on Ferguson is a solid idea for general manager Les Snead. Ferguson caught 134 receptions for 1,537 yards and 16 touchdowns in 53 career games for the Ducks. He would start as a backup but could fill in nicely on passing situations for the Rams with his 6-foot-6, 230-pound frame.
