Aaron Rodgers has 'standing offers' from Giants, Steelers: report
As the Aaron Rodgers offseason saga drags on, the veteran quarterback has contract offers from at least two teams.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Giants and Steelers remain firmly in the mix for Rodgers, while the Vikings may still be in on him.
“I'm told from sources that Rodgers does have standing offers from the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants," Fowler reported on SportsCenter. “I checked with the source from one of those teams about a timeline for Rodgers. I got back a text with the Webster's dictionary of the word enigma, and so that's kind of the feeling right now.
"Teams are waiting this out, waiting on Rodgers. The feeling is there's not just a money consideration here. There's fit, there's surroundings, all those things. Minnesota Vikings are sort of on the periphery here. Sources there tell me that it's possible they get involved with Rodgers, but the feeling this week has been probably not. They want to develop J.J. McCarthy."
A report by The Athletic on Saturday noted that Rodgers is "hoping" to sign with the Vikings, who have McCarthy waiting in the wings (though he is coming off a torn ACL) and saw Sam Darnold sign with the Seahawks.
Rodgers remains a major quarterback domino. Fellow Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson is reportedly 'ready to sign" with a team following meetings with the Giants and Cleveland Browns (while a return to the Steelers remains an option), but teams appear to be waiting on Rodgers' decision before moving in any other direction.
