Add another name to the list of New Orleans Saints official 30 visits -- Jeff Duncan reports for the Times-Picayune that Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough was in town for a formal trip to the team headquarters, one of the "top 30" visits teams are allowed to make before each NFL draft.
Saints quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien was at his pro day, and Shough also participated at the Senior Bowl earlier this offseason -- where he was coached by Saints assistant Jordan Traylor. He's one of the more divisive quarterbacks in this draft class. Shough, 25, has spent seven years at the college level and threw his first pass at Oregon back in 2018. He played for Texas Tech from 2021 to 2023 and transferred to Louisville in 2024, where he posted a career-high 3,195 passing yards with 23 touchdowns against 6 interceptions. That isn't exactly setting the world on fire.
Still, scouts like what they've found on film. Shough has done well throughout his pre-draft process and shown teams what they've needed to see. He wouldn't be the first so-so college player to develop into a better pro. He's been talked about as a fringe first-round pick but is probably more likely to be a second- or third-round pick. We'll find out where he lands in just a few weeks, and that might be New Orleans.
