10 Ashland County returning boys track and field athletes to watch in 2025

Track and Field season is upon us, so let's dive into the 10 boys track and field athletes to pay close attention to in Ashland County this spring.

Jacob Holbrook, Ashland

Ashland's Jacob Holbrook runs in the 100 meters at the Lexington Invitational last season.

There's a strong case to be made that Holbrook was the top boys sprinter in the Ashland County area during his junior year. Making his mark in both the 100 and 200 meters last season, Holbrook was a Division I regional qualifier in both sprints, as he went on to become the Ohio Cardinal Conference and Division I district champion in the 100. He was the 100 and 200 winner at the Madison Invitational and 100 winner at the Crestview Pruner Invitational, while also making moves in the high jump where he placed third at the OCC meet. And to add, he was a part of Ashland's 4x200 relay team that made the Division I state meet.

In his senior year, Holbrook will look to take it a bit further as a 100-200 sprinter and make the state meet.

Jayden Goings, Ashland

Ashland's Jayden Goings running in the 4x100 relay for the Arrows at the Division I state meet in Dayton.

As a sophomore, Goings was starting to make headwaves in the hurdle events. Then as a junior, alongside his hurdle partner Braydon Martin, they both took their hurdling abilities up a few notches. Goings made it all the way to the Division I state meet in Dayton in the 110 hurdles, as he was also a regional qualifier in both the 110 and 300 hurdles. A 110 hurdles winner at the Crestview Pruner and Marion Night Invitationals, along with finishing runner-up at the OCC meet in the 300 hurdles, Goings will aim to continue his progression as a hurdler and possibly take it up a couple notches more as a senior.
