Warren to Trump: Fire Musk

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) urged President Trump to fire Elon Musk, wittingly quoting the leader’s remarks during his Tuesday address to Congress.
“I agree with Donald Trump that an unelected bureaucrat should be fired,” Warren wrote in a post on X.
“Let’s start with Elon Musk.”
During Trump’s speech he condescendingly referenced Warren as “Pocahontas” and suggested the days of “bureaucratic rule” were over at the start of his second administration.
Several Democrats in the audience raised signs that read “FALSE” and pointed to Elon Musk, who’s been in charge of federal spending cuts led by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Thousands of probationary workers and other government employees were abruptly removed from their posts throughout Trump’s first few months in office.
Earlier in the day, Warren, alongside 38 other lawmakers, wrote a letter to Trump urging him to oust Musk, claiming the firings of independent agency heads and inspector generals reiterated a conflict of interest for the tech giant.
“Nearly all of your decisions you made about who to fire appear to benefit Mr. Musk, and many target individuals and agencies that are currently investigating or prosecuting Mr. Musk or his companies for unlawful behavior,” the group wrote in the Tuesday letter. “Many of these individuals have legal protections dictating why and how they can be removed from office.”
Warren has consistently called out the Trump administration for efforts to dismantle the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and changes to the Federal Reserve’s standards in recent months.
