Warren presses X on deleted Trump nominee’s posts

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is pressing the social platform X about one of President Trump’s economic nominees seemingly scraping many posts from his account.
In a letter addressed to Linda Yaccarino, X's CEO, Warren asked the company to recover more than 24,000 posts from William Pulte. He was tapped by Trump late last month to serve as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and faced a confirmation hearing on Thursday before the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee.
Warren, the ranking member of the committee, said she and other members “made a startling discovery” that nearly all of Pulte’s posts on X appear to have been deleted.
“Given the importance of the position, the Committee has begun reviewing Mr. Pulte’s tweets to evaluate his policy positions, temperament, and fitness to serve,” the Massachusetts Democrat wrote in a statement.
The senator argued that her request to see Pulte’s deleted posts may provide insight into his policy positions and his fitness to oversee companies that have $8.1 trillion in mortgage financing.
“To ensure the Committee can perform its duties, I request that you provide all of Mr. Pulte’s social media platform since he created his account in 2009,” Warren wrote. “There is bipartisan precedent for requesting such information.”
Warren requested the X posts to be handed over by March 3.
Pulte has more than 3 million followers on X and has made a name for himself as being an online philanthropist, often giving away money to supporters of Trump, or when the president reposts someone else's comments.
