Rove: Trump campaign sees chance of taking Virginia, New Mexico, New Hampshire
Karl Rove of Fox News believes former President Trump has a chance to win Virginia, New Mexico and New Hampshire despite two decades of losses plaguing GOP presidential nominees in those states.
“Obviously, they saw something in three states that was not seen generally because in the final days of the campaign, the president, former president, went to Salem, Virginia, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and his running mate went to New Hampshire,” Rove said Tuesday in a clip highlighted be Mediaite.
Days before the general election, Trump spent time away from swing states to make two stops in Virginia and New Mexico.
He said New Mexico was good for his “credentials” with Hispanic voters.
“I’m here for one simple reason. I like you very much, and it’s good for my credentials with the Hispanic or Latino community,” Trump told the crowd in Albuquerque.
Rove said the visit was a sign of strength measured through internal polling.
“I doubt it’s a head fake. I doubt they said, 'well, let’s just confuse Rove and [Neil] Cavuto, and we’ll go to Albuquerque, Salem, and New Hampshire,'” he stated. “They must be looking at some data that suggests to them that they’ve got a chance to sneak these states and perhaps some others.”
Earlier in the interview, he cited northern Virginia poll statistics as a sign of a potential Republican win across the state.
“There's only one reason you go to a state in the final days of the campaign, and that is to reach voters who are going to make a difference and bring in the electoral votes of that state to your column,” Rove added.
While in New Hampshire, vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) doubled down on that statement bolstering the Republican nominee’s intentions to paint the state red.
"I believe that in two days we're going to turn New Hampshire red and make Donald Trump the next president of the United States," Vance told voters in Derry, N.H.
