Cuban clarifies comment about Trump, women after criticism
Mark Cuban apologized for his comments on The View in a Friday statement addressing his previous claims that former President Trump is “intimidated” by intelligent women.
“When I said this during the interview, I didn't get it out exactly the way I thought I did. So I apologize to anyone who felt slighted or upset by my response. As I said, it wasn't about trump voters, supporters or employees. Current or former,” Cuban wrote in a post on the social platform X.
“And, I set myself up for the 6 sec soundbite. No excuses. Can't nail every interview,” the businessman added. “My skin is thick enough.”
Trump responded to Cuban’s comments hours after his appearance on the show by calling the billionaire “a really dumb guy.”
“Mark Cuban, a really dumb guy, who thinks he’s 'hot stuff' but he’s absolutely nothing, is now out there saying that I don’t surround myself with strong women,” the Republican nominee wrote on X. “Actually, he is very wrong, I surround myself with the strongest of women - With the understanding that ALL women are great, whether strong or not strong.”
The former president claims their relationship spiraled after he refused to take “pointless calls” from Cuban which pushed him towards supporting Vice President Harris in her election bid.
“In any event, that affected him greatly, because he’s a very insecure guy, and a MAJOR LOSER, always has been and always will be,” Trump fumed. “Nobody likes him, nobody respects him, and he’s unattractive both inside and out! He should go back to talk about the person he was forced to support, because I didn’t want it, Lyin’ Kamala Harris.”
GOP leaders like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Trump’s spokesperson Karoline Leavitt also weighed in on the matter critiquing Cuban’s claims about the party’s women.
“Mark Cuban says women who support President Trump are weak and unintelligent. I think Rachel Maddow’s doppelgänger needs to get some HRT and hit the gym. #WomenForTrump,” Greene posted on X.
Her words were accompanied by a video of her doing pull-ups.
Amid Cuban’s controversy, came multiple memes comparing him to women.
“In the spirit of joy... I have to add that all the AI memes of me with the long hair crack me up. So there is a positive,” Cuban said in his statement.
However, as he ended on a light note, the Trump campaign used his rhetoric to condemn the vice president and her surrogates.
"This is extremely insulting to the thousands of women who work for President Trump, and the tens of millions of women who are voting for him," Leavitt told Fox News Digital. "These women are mothers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders, and they are, indeed, strong and intelligent, despite what Mark Cuban and Kamala Harris say."
