Baldur's Gate 3's months-in-the-making Patch 8 update is just around the corner, with developer Larian Studios officially revealing it will arrive April 15.
The update is a big one, adding 12 new subclasses (one for each class), cross-play between platforms, a photo mode, split-screen co-op for those playing on Xbox Series S (originally one of the reasons the game didn't come to Xbox at launch), and a number of smaller tweaks and bug fixes.
As detailed by Larian, once Patch 8 is out, those looking to form an adventuring party without boundaries will need to enable cross-play under the game's multiplayer settings. From there, those looking to play together on different platforms will need to add each other's Larian account name to their in-game friend's list. Players will then be able to create a cross-play multiplayer lobby and invite people accordingly. One interesting wrinkle noted by Larian is that if the person hosting the lobby is playing on PC and joined by those playing on consoles or Mac, the lobby host will need to have less than 100 mods installed and only include mods accepted on consoles and Mac.
