Who are Kon Knueppel's parents? Duke basketball freshman comes from basketball family

Kon Knueppel hasn't wasted his first trip to the men's NCAA Tournament.

Entering Saturday night's East Region Elite Eight game against No. 2 seed Alabama, Knueppel was shooting 64.7% from the field and 55.6% from beyond the arc, while averaging 12.7 points per game.

A five-star prospect out of Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee, Knueppel has been part of a 1-2 punch of freshman talent on Duke's roster for much of the season. In the ACC tournament when Cooper Flagg was sidelined for two games with a sprained left ankle injury, it was Knueppel who stepped up to lead Duke to its 28th conference tournament title.

He has done the same in Saturday's game against the Crimson Tide, as he currently leads all scorers with 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field with three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

But with Knuppel's successes on the hardwood for the Blue Devils, some curiosity has been sparked around the country as to where he got his genes and winning DNA from.

Here's what you need to know on Kon Knueppel's parents:

Who are Kon Knueppel's parents?

To perhaps no surprise, Duke's star guard comes from a family of basketball players, as both of his parents were former basketball players in their younger days. His dad, also named Kon Knueppel, played at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Wisconsin and scored more than 2,000 career points for the Warriors.

As for his mom, Chari Knueppel, she played at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and was an All-Horizon League member for the Phoenix. In her four years with the Phoenix, Chari Knueppel finished as the program's all-time leader scorer at 1,964 points. She was inducted into the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Hall of Fame in 2004.

As noted by TBS's Allie LaForce on Saturday's Elite Eight broadcast, Chari Knueppel was flying back and forth from Raleigh, North Carolina and Madison, Wisconsin last week, as Kon Knueppel and Duke were playing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament while his brother, Kager Knueppel, played in the Division I Wisconsin State High School championship.
