With the 2025 NFL draft on the horizon, where will the Indianapolis Colts be selecting in each round?
In terms of needs that the Colts have to address, the secondary can take a back seat after GM Chris Ballard signed cornerback Charvarius Ward and safety Cam Bynum in free agency. There's still an opportunity to add to those rooms in the draft, but they are no longer a top priority, which was the case before free agency.
Instead, many are focused on adding to the tight end position, where the Colts need a much greater pass-catching presence. However, while true, in Shane Steichen's offense, don't forget about the importance of the tight end being able to hold up as a blocker in the run game.
Beyond tight end, competition for the starting linebacker role is needed. In addition to that, the Colts have uncertainties at right guard with Will Fries in Minnesota. Perhaps Matt Goncalves can step into that role, but the prudent move would be not to assume that either, and to make sure there is a competition for that playing time.
Adding depth along the defensive front should be high up on the to-do list, and in what is a very deep running back class, Ballard should look to add to that room as well.
The difficult part of all this is that I mentioned quite a few position groups, but the Colts only have so much draft capital to go around with seven picks--one in each round.
So how does Ballard go about prioritizing these needs? If I were making my list of the big four, the offensive line, tight end, defensive line, and linebacker should be emphasized early on.
