When does Michigan basketball play in March Madness?
The Wolverines are back in the Big Dance for the first time since 2022 as Dusty May has turned the program around in Year 1.
After a successful run through the Big Ten tournament to recapture some momentum, the Wolverines (25-9) were slotted in as a 5-seed in March Madness and will play UC San Diego (30-4) in Denver on Thursday in the first round. The Tritons celebrated their first-ever Big West Conference championship and have won 15 straight games in their first year of Division I postseason eligibility.

Michigan was a strong contender for the Big Ten title throughout the entire season, but lost its final three games of the season, including the season finale against rival Michigan State.
However, the Wolverines rallied to the Big Ten tournament, punching out Purdue, Maryland and Wisconsin on Sunday, each time as an underdog.
That run helped the Wolverines lock up an 5-seed in the NCAA tournament bracket.
The official times and channels are not released until later, but here's what we know now for Michigan basketball's game vs. the UC San Diego Tritons.

The 5-seed Wolverines will face the 12-seed UC San Diego Tritons.
Michigan is ranked No. 25 overall on kenpom.com, 47th on offense and 14th on defense.
UC San Diego is No. 36. It is 57th on offense and 30th on defense.
When does Michigan basketball play in March Madness?
Date: Thursday, March 21 in Denver, Colorado.
The Wolverines will start their tournament on Thursday when they face UC San Diego in Denver in the South Region.
If Michigan wins its first round game, it'll play in the Round of 32 on Saturday against either 4-seed Texas A&M or 13-seed Yale — Danny Wolf's former team.
