Mikaylah Williams' standout sophomore campaign for LSU women's basketball came to an end on Sunday in the team's Elite Eight loss to UCLA.
Alongside Flau'Jae Johnson and Aneesah Morrow, Williams commanded attention from opposing defenses as she flexed her ball-handling and shooting abilities. Following Sunday's loss, she said she's "thankful" for the experiences the 2024-25 season brought her.
"I'm just thankful to be able to play With Aneesah Morrow for two years, thankful to be able to play with Flau'Jae," Williams said. "[I'm] thankful to be coached by [Kim] Mulkey, thankful to be on one of the biggest platforms that I could be on for women's basketball."
Williams averaged 17.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Her versatility to play point guard, wing and power forward earned her All-American honorable mention and All-SEC first-team recognition. She also finished shooting 46.5% from the field.
Against the Bruins, a shaky first half tainted Williams' performance as she committed multiple unforced turnovers. As she turns toward the offseason, Williams wants to focus on growing her abilities and game intelligence under Mulkey.
"I've learned so much from [Kim] Mulkey [and] all the seniors," Williams said. "I just continue to take those things, learn and then helpfully when we come back again, I'll have better decisions and better knowledge of what to do in those certain times."
