Notre Dame is in the NCAA Tournament for the 30th time in program history.
The day's opening game has an 11:30 a.m. tipoff and will feature No. 6-seed Michigan (22-10) against No. 11-seed Iowa State (23-11), which won Wednesday night's First Four game, 68-63, over Princeton at Purcell Pavilion.
Today's winners will meet on Sunday at a time to be determined.
No. 8-ranked Notre Dame had reached No. 1 in the polls just three weeks ago, but losing three of its final five games led to the Irish sliding down in the rankings and a projected NCAA No. 1 or No. 2 seed. The Irish hope the time off has allowed them to reset as they pursue a third national championship in program history.
