A first-half goal from Adrian Jaimes stood as the eventual game-winner for the W.F. West boys soccer team on Friday, as the Bearcats took down Shelton 1-0 on the road.

Jaimes' goal came in the 21st minute off an assist from Colin Bradley, and the Bearcats were able to shut down the Highclimbers' attack to post the shutout.

Noel Montenegro gets credit for the clean sheet in net.

"It was a great hard fought battle for the boys," W.F. West coach Allen Anderson said. "Our midfield did a great job controlling the tempo of the game ... I love seeing another great defensive performance."

Anderson specifically gave a shout out to Rafael Mendez in the midfield, saying he "played at a high level for all 80 minutes."

W.F. West (3-3, 2-0 2A EvCo) will be back at home on Tuesday to host Centralia.
