The two teams played to an old-school, scoreless draw in regulation. However, with just three seconds left in the third period, Ottawa’s Ridley Greig was called for hooking on Crosby. It was a rather soft call, especially in a scoreless game that was heading for overtime.

Former Senator Erik Karlsson made his old team pay, setting up Crosby at the top of the right circle, and the Penguins’ captain made no mistake, blasting a one-timer past Anton Forsberg for the winner.

Forsberg was outstanding, stopping all 33 shots he faced in regulation before Crosby's goal became the lone blemish on his night. At the other end, Tristan Jarry was equally impressive, turning aside all 31 shots he faced to earn the official shutout.
