Watch: Abraham prays as Maignan is stretchered off the pitch after head collision

Mike Maignan had to be stretchered off the pitch in AC Milan’s clash against Udinese last night, following a nasty head collision. In the midst of it all, Tammy Abraham was seen praying for his teammate.

It was in the 52nd minute that Maignan and Jimenez came together in a high-speed clash, both running in opposite directions. The Milan and Udinese players immediately called for medical help and shortly after, the goalkeeper was stretchered off the pitch.

While tests have since ruled out any serious head injuries for Maignan, the collision looked very nasty and naturally had everyone worried, especially the goalkeeper’s teammates. As you can see in the video below, Abraham – at the time on the sidelines – was seen praying for Maignan.

The Frenchman will be under observation for a few days, as is protocol with head trauma, and he will then slowly return to training. He could make it back for the Atalanta clash on Sunday, in other words, but Milan don’t intend to rush him back.

Marco Sportiello came off the bench last night and made a couple of good stops, so it’s not like the Rossoneri must have the Frenchman back as soon as possible. For the derby, however, recovering him would be key.
