Heading into Friday night's contest, the Denver Nuggets have won the previous nine regular-season matchups against the Golden State Warriors, dating all the way back to 2022. Despite finishing up a six-game road swing on Thursday night with a win over the Lakers, the Warriors finally got in the win column against the Nuggets on Friday on the second-leg of a back-to-back.
After trading buckets throughout the first half with the Warriors' clinging to a small advantage, Steve Kerr's squad stretched their lead to 12 points heading into the final frame. The Warriors held off Nikola Jokic down the stretch to secure another impressive victory over a Western Conference playoff team and advance their win streak to five straight.
During the Warriors' 118-104 win over the Nuggets, Steph Curry tallied a game-high 36 points on 13-of-24 shooting from the field with seven made 3-pointers. Over his last three games against the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers and Nuggets, Curry has scored 125 total points and is averaging 41.7 points per game over that span. All three games were played over the last four games.
After hitting a career-best eight 3-pointers last night, Brandin Podziemski continued his hot shooting on Friday against the Nuggets, scoring 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field to go along with eight rebounds and six assists in 36 minutes.
After five straight wins, the Warriors still hold the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Clippers and Grizzlies closely trailing. The Warriors now sit just a half-game behind the Nuggets for the No. 4 seed and a game back of the No. 3 seed Lakers.
However, the Warriors can't take a step off the gas with the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets coming to town on Sunday evening.
