Wagner's Ashlyn Koupal to attend USA Basketball women's junior minicamp in Florida

Apr. 1—TAMPA, Fla. — Wagner junior Ashlyn Koupal is one of 45 high school girls basketball stars from across the country invited to the 2025 USA Basketball women's junior national team minicamp, the organization announced last week.

The third annual minicamp of its kind will take place alongside the 2025 NCAA Women's Final Four in Tampa from April 3-6, with 45 athletes from the high school graduating classes of 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2029 in attendance.

Koupal, the No. 21 recruit in the class of 2026 as rated by HoopGurlz Super 60 rankings published by ESPN, is one of 14 athletes from her class set to attend. A 6-foot-3 guard/forward, Koupal was named South Dakota's Gatorade player of the year last month and is a three-time Class A first-team all-state performer for the Red Raiders. She holds collegiate offers from numerous Division I power conference programs.

In 2024, Koupal was part of the Sanford Sports Academy 16-and-under girls squad that was one of 24 teams nationally invited to compete in the USA Basketball Club Championships from July 27-29 in Rock Hill, South Carolina. At the event, she was named to the all-tournament first team.

Also of note, Maddyn Greenway, daughter of Mount Vernon native Chad Greenway, will also represent the class of 2026. Greenway, who was recently named Minnesota's Gatorade girls basketball player of the year, is committed to the University of Kentucky.

Athletes and coaches were selected by the USA Basketball Women's Developmental National Team Committee. In addition to on-court drills and scrimmages, athletes will participate in a series of educational presentations and attend the national semifinal games — UCLA versus UConn and South Carolina versus Texas — on April 4.
