USC picks up commitment from Samford transfer Jaden Brownell

After a frustrating week in the transfer portal, USC men's basketball ended it by finally getting some good news. On Friday, the Trojans landed a commitment from Samford transfer Jaden Brownell.

Brownell spent the first three seasons of his college career at Illinois Chicago, before transferring to Samford and playing for coach Bucky McMillan, who was recently hired as the new coach at Texas A&M after Buzz Williams went to Maryland to replace Kevin Willard (who took the Villanova job after Kyle Neptune was fired).

Bucky McMillan played "BuckyBall," a frenetic and fast-paced style of play which encourages 3-point shooting. Brownell averaged 14 points per game and shot 40 percent from 3-point range at Samford. Let's be honest: A lot of the incoming transfers for USC aren't that exciting, and the roster does not look great on a larger level. However, this addition looks like a particularly good one, someone Eric Musselman can really build on and incorporate into his scheme at USC.

This is an acquisition which clearly improves the USC roster. The Trojans need to make a few more similar additions if they want to feel good about where they are heading into the summer and eventually the start of the season in November.
