Updated Mar. 17 West playoff standings as Thunder blowout Bucks
The Oklahoma City Thunder have a strong hold on the first seed. That's been the case for most of the season, with a double-digit game lead in the standings. There's been little drama for most of the year on whether they'll repeat as the top seed.
The Thunder swept a three-game road trip with a blowout win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 31 points while Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein were the best they looked all season in their double-big lineup.
Less than a month remains in the 2024-25 regular season. Even though the Thunder aren't involved, plenty of heated races for seeding have ramped up as the margin for error gets thinner. Thunder Wire will conduct daily updates on the West's standings until the season ends:
What happened last night?
Sixers 130, Mavericks 125: The Mavericks continue to freefall with eight losses in their last nine game. They're begging anybody to take their play-in spot. Quentin Grimes had his revenge against his former squad with 28 points in a high-scoring win for the tanking Sixers.
Lakers 107, Suns 96: The Lakers picked up a much-needed win. Luka Doncic had a near 33-point triple-double to snap a four-game losing streak. Austin Reaves had 28 points. It was an easy win for Los Angeles as the Suns have turned into the get-right opponent for most squads.
Timberwolves 128, Jazz 102: At this point, the Jazz are a layup win. The Timberwolves blew them out. Anthony Edwards went off for 41 points on 16-of-27 shooting. Utah will gladly eat the loss as it remains with the league's worst record.
Clippers 123, Hornets 88: Another blowout game on the docket. The Hornets have thrown in the towel. This makes them a layup win the rest of the way. James Harden had a near 31-point triple-double and Kawhi Leonard scored 23 points.
Thunder 121, Bucks 105: Another blowout win for the Thunder. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 31 points. But the story was how well Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein looked together against Giannis Antetkounmpo. The double-big lineup has meshed well in recent games.
