UNDER 17: SECOND PLACE WITH THE PLAY-OFFS IN SIGHT
With four games of the regular season to go, there is only one goal in sight: securing a place in the top two to begin the national phase in the quarter-finals. The Under-17s, under Giovanni Renna, are currently in second place, on 47 points, four points off of league leaders Inter and two ahead of third-place Udinese.
In their last outing, they won away against Brescia, and at the same time, Udinese lost in Mantova. Matchday 23 will see AC Milan face Hellas Verona at thePUMA House of Football while Inter will face Udinese, so it will be a great chance for the Rossoneri to get closer to securing their goal.
With top scorers Lontani (13), La Mantia (12), Pinessi (9) and Pisati (8), the Rossoneri have the best attacking record in the league (64 goals alongside Inter), and with 28 goals conceded, they have the second best defence, only behind Udinese (22). These are numbers that for now leave us in second place, with direct route to the national quarter-finals.
Giovanni Renna said this about their season: "I am very happy with the path that these boys are on. Our goal is to work to improve every player in all aspects, not only technically, but also mentally, psychologically, at school... I believe that we are playing in line with what our director Vincenzo Vergine asked of us. We are looking to reach the quarter-finals to avoid the first play-off rounds, and then we will give our all to win the Scudetto. The goal for all of our staff is to produce as many players as possible for the Under-20s next year."
