Unbeaten Barcelona star ready to continue for another season amid top form

The future of Wojciech Szczesny has been a key talking point at Barcelona, especially at a time when the goalkeeper has shown top form.

Indeed, Szczesny has been one of Europe’s top-performing goalkeepers since the turn of the year. In fact, he has yet to lose a single game while donning the Barcelona kit.

Szczesny’s top form has compelled Barcelona to try and extend his contract, which expires at the end of the season.

As speculation over his future continues, Helena Condis has recently offered a fresh update, suggesting that Szczesny is extremely happy at Barça.

She is convinced the Pole is going to stay another season in Catalonia, with Barcelona themselves likely to offer him a new deal.

Szczesny, for his part, is open to renewing his contract. A new deal could see the veteran goalkeeper remain at Barça for yet another season.

The positive news regarding Szczesny’s future comes shortly after the player’s agent confirmed that the two parties should easily reach an agreement over a new deal.

The goalkeeper’s contract extension could be significant for Barcelona considering the fact that Inaki Pena is almost destined to leave the club in the summer.

The Spaniard has fallen out of favour under Hansi Flick, with no real hopes for a comeback. Keeping that in mind, he could be set for a new adventure elsewhere.

Pena’s departure could leave Barcelona scrambling for a backup for first-choice ‘keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The presence of Szczesny, to that end, could serve as an ideal safeguard for the club.
