UConn's Dan Hurley cries about officiating after Florida's NCAA Tournament win
Call it sour grapes. Call it being a sore loser. Whatever you want to call it, Dan Hurley was the epitome of classlessness after the Florida Gators's second-round win over the UConn Huskies in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Anyone who actually watched the game would know that his Huskies greatly benefitted from a sympathetic referee corps, consistently getting calls throughout the game that kept things close. Todd Golden's team would get hammered on their offensive end while getting called for touch calls on defense — if anything, the Orange and Blue had an argument in its favor.
Instead of gracefully accepting that his eighth-seeded squad was simply not enough to outlast the top-seeded team in the West Region, Hurley resorted to excuses.
"I hope they don’t (expletive) you like they (expletive) us, Baylor. I really hope they don’t," Hurley stated after the game as he headed into the locker room.

For the record, Florida finished with 17 total fouls against UConn's 21 but those numbers are skewed by the final minute of trading free throws. By the end of the game, the Gators had two players with four fouls (Reuben Chinyelu, a foul magnet, and Walter Clayton Jr.) while the Huskies had three.
The numbers and the eye test simply do not support the accusations. Case dismissed.
So instead of UConn gracefully passing the torch in the NCAA Tournament after two successful runs, the Huskies will leave a brown mark on their final game of the 2024-25 campaign.
