Betts has been bullying the unfortunate souls thrown against her. She had a 30-piece against Richmond in the Round of 32 and dropped another 31 in Friday’s defeat of Ole Miss. She’s up to 83.3 percent from the field in tourney action, which is cool and absurd and terrifying.
Kiki Rice has taken full advantage of the warped gravity around Betts, shooting 63.6 percent on treys and staying perfect from the foul line in the tournament. Fellow sharpshooter Londynn Jones brings range and energy.
UCLA is 33-0 against teams that don’t have JuJu Watkins. LSU does not have JuJu Watkins, but its star reach is undeniable. Morrow is a three-time All-American with graceful defensive instincts and a menacing glass game. Flau’Jae Johnson is one of the nation’s swaggiest scorers when fully locked in. Mikaylah Williams is a confident shooter and a clever, manipulative playmaker. Meanwhile, Sa’Myah Smith has come alive in March, rising for a career performance in the Sweet 16 spoiling of NC State. In a complete 40 minutes, the redshirt sophomore finished with 21 points and 11 boards with just one turnover.
Both Morrow and Betts are coming off overwhelming 30-point star turns in the Sweet 16. Jones and Johnson are galvanizing energies, while Rice and Williams make for a very cool perimeter pairing.
