Two Clemson baseball players were named to the 2025 Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List, announced Thursday by USA baseball.
Junior outfielder Cam Cannarella and sophomore right-hander Aidan Knaak were two of 45 players named to the watch list. Cannarella is batting .321 with a .475 on-base percentage in 30 games this season. He has seven doubles, one home run and 22 RBIs while helping the Tigers to a 27-5 overall record and a No. 7 ranking in this week's USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
Knaak is 4-0 with a 4.17 ERA in seven starts. The right-hander has 57 strikeouts to 12 walks in 36 2/3 innings after a dominant freshman season a year ago (5-1, 3.35 ERA, 108 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings) while helping Clemson to a Super Regional appearance.
Only six other programs placed multiples players on Thursday's watch list: the Tennessee Volunteers, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, Florida State, and Oregon State.
The 2025 Golden Spikes Award, given annually to the nation's top player, will be announced in June. Georgia's Charlie Condon took home the award last season. Khalil Greene is the only Tigers player to have won the award (2002).
Clemson visits California (16-12) for a three-game weekend series in Berkeley beginning Friday night at 9 p.m. ET. This weekend's series can be seen/streamed on ACC Network Extra (ACCNX).
