According to a report from Fichajes, Aston Villa are eyeing a double raid on Barcelona, targeting Danish defender Andreas Christensen and young midfielder Marc Casado.

The outlet mentions that with Unai Emery at the helm and Monchi pulling the strings behind the scenes, the Premier League side appears ready to capitalise on Barcelona’s financial vulnerabilities and squad reshuffling.

Christensen’s situation at Barcelona has significantly changed this season. Once a regular starter, the Danish international has found himself sliding down the pecking order due to a combination of injury setbacks and extreme competition.

As such, Pau Cubarsi has been a revelation, Ronald Araujo remains a crucial member, and Inigo Martinez offers experience that Flick values.

With a contract running until 2026 but no sign of renewal talks, Barcelona seem open to letting him go—especially if offers exceed €20 million.

Casado’s playing time in doubt

Marc Casado, once tipped for a regular first-team role, is also facing an uncertain future. After a promising rise, injuries and fierce competition have stifled his momentum.

The return of Marc Bernal and Barcelona’s interest in reinforcing the midfield further complicate Casado’s chances of playing regular football next season.

With limited opportunities on the horizon, a move to the Premier League could be the breakthrough Casado, who is also wanted by Chelsea, needs.

Meanwhile, it is stated that Monchi is reportedly already in discreet discussions with Barcelona.

Emery believes both Christensen and Casado could contribute immediately, offering defensive assurance and midfield depth.

From Barcelona’s perspective, this is also a pragmatic move. The club remains under financial strain and needs to generate income while trimming the squad.

If Villa table offers that meet expectations, Barça are unlikely to stand in the way.
