When Todd Golden took over the Florida basketball program, he was tasked with rebuilding the Gators program back to a winning culture.
He has done just that, putting together back-to-back seasons with at least 20 wins after going 16-17 in his first season in Gainesville. This season, Golden has added an SEC tournament title, a No. 1 seed in the men's NCAA Tournament and the program's first Final Four appearance since 2014 on his resume.
But that isn't the only noticeable thing from Florida's run to the Final Four under Golden. His age, and how much he has accomplished at this stage of his career, are the others.
So, how old is Golden? Here's what you need to know:
Todd Golden age: How old is Florida basketball coach?
Golden is 39 years old.
When Florida punched its ticket to the Final Four with its win over Texas Tech in the Elite Eight, Golden became one of just 13 head coaches under the age of 40 to take a team to the Final Four since the men's NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 teams ahead of the 1984-85 season.
A win on Monday would make Golden the youngest coach since NC State's Jim Valvano to win the NCAA Tournament at 39 years old.
