Todd Bowles says the Bucs are lacking a killer instinct

Todd Bowles was asked during the Annual NFL Meetings media availability about what the team is lacking and he gave an honest answer. The veteran head coach said it came down to the team lacking a "killer instinct."

When asked to clarify his comments, he explained it in more detail.

"It's more accountability. It's more accountability in practice and competing against each other. It's not a coach thing – they can hear me talk every day, all day up on the stage, but when they start talking to each other and start holding each other accountable from a vocal standpoint – whether that's tough love or whether that's kind love – either way, it gets our point across and how we approach games is important. . ."

This point is a fair criticism for a Bucs team that let a lot of teams back into games when they shouldn't have. The lack of a killer instinct affected both the offense and defense evenly. Them getting this back into their game and adding accountability, as Bowles mentions, will go a long way in this team taking the next step as a group.
