Texans fan favorite draft target Tyler Booker viewed as 'safest pick'

Fans of the Houston Texans would love nothing more than to see Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker fall to the No. 25 overall pick and land as the long-term starting right guard in front of C.J. Stroud.

If all goes according to plan, that could be the case. It would also be a smart thing since one publication believes he's one of the safest bets in the 2025 draft.

Bleacher Report believes that Booker is not only the best guard in the class, but he's one of the seven safest prospects teams should feel comfortable taking with their first pick. After standing out for two seasons at Alabama, Booker seems poised for a breakout rookie season.

Booker is a 6'5", 321-pound tone-setter. Maulers aren't en vogue today as NFL passing games became more prominent. But pass-blocking isn't passive, and people-movers never got out of style," Bleacher Report wrote. "The two-time, first-team All-American provides a punishing style of play and he takes joy in burying opponents.
"Booker likely only plays guard at the next level, though he does have some experience at offensive tackle. A lack of position flexibility really doesn't matter when he'll automatically slot into a starting guard spot."

The Texans need help across the offensive line after trading away five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil, releasing Shaq Mason and moving off Kenyon Green. Laken Tomlinson and Ed Ingram joined the roster, but Houston can only afford for one of them to start after underwhelming seasons in 2023.

Booker, known for his brute strength, relentless play style and high-motor mentality, should be a plug-and-play starter come Week 1 once he gets acclimated to Nick Caley's system during training camp.

“It’s legal assault out there. I love football because the brand of football I play, I make other guys not love football anymore," Booker told reporters at the combine. "I do that every down by giving it my all.”

The Texans own seven picks in next month's draft, including four in the top 100.
