Tennessee Titans release CB Chidobe Awuzie after one season
The Tennessee Titans released cornerback Chidobe Awuzie one season after signing him to a three-year deal in free agency, the team announced Saturday.
Awuzie signed a three-year contract last offseason but played just eight games after suffering a groin injury in Week 3. The 29-year-old totaled 24 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and four passes defensed in those eight games.
Awuzie was due a $3.98 million roster bonus if he remained on the Titans roster on March 17, per Over The Cap, and his release will save the Titans just $1.725 million with $12.5 million in dead cap space in 2025.
Tennessee got a solid contribution from fifth-round rookie Jarvis Brownlee last season, and this move opens the door for playing time for him in 2025 alongside L'Jarius Sneed and Roger McCreary at cornerback.

Awuzie was a part of the Titans' spending spree in free agency last season that included Sneed, wide receiver Calvin Ridley and center Lloyd Cushenberry. Also a part of last season's free agency haul was linebacker Kenneth Murray, who was traded to Dallas earlier this week.
