Swansea want Sheehan to stay for rest of season
Swansea City have asked caretaker boss Alan Sheehan to remain in charge until the end of the 2024-25 season.
The 38-year-old has been at the helm since the departure of head coach Luke Williams in February.
A deal for Sheehan to remain in place until the summer has not yet been finalised, but looks set to be agreed well before Swansea return to action at Leeds United in eight days' time.
Should Sheehan stay on, Swansea are likely to strengthen his coaching team on a short-term basis.
The Championship club will then reassess their managerial situation in May.
Sheehan has helped Swansea to seven points from five games as caretaker boss following Williams' exit.
Sheehan's impact has convinced Swansea's hierarchy he is the man to lead the club clear of Championship relegation danger.
The Irishman had indicated he would be reluctant to remain in place on a deal running only until the summer because of the need to plan for the long-term.
Sheehan, who also had a temporary stint in charge last season, helped a Swansea side who had lost seven of their previous nine league games claim two wins and a draw from their first three matches after Williams' exit.
The first defeat of Sheehan's second temporary spell as Swansea boss came at Watford - when the visitors ought to have claimed a point - before the Welsh side were beaten comfortably by high-flying Burnley last weekend.
They face another daunting challenge after the international break, with a trip to Leeds United to come on 29 March, before key home fixtures against relegation-threatened Derby County and Plymouth Argyle.
Swansea then face another demanding away trip, to Sunderland, before Easter fixtures at home against Hull City and at Queens Park Rangers.
They return to London to face Millwall in the penultimate game of the season before a final-day home game against Oxford United.
