Strunk sisters, Protheroe headline 2024-25 Pocono Record All-Area girls basketball teams
The Pocono Record All-Area teams comprise the 10 best girls basketball players among the seven area schools: East Stroudsburg North, East Stroudsburg South, Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg, Pleasant Valley, Pocono Mountain East, Pocono Mountain West and Stroudsburg.
The selections are as follows:
All-Area First Team
Emma Campusano, Jr., Pocono Mountain West
Campusano's first season as a full-time varsity player showed a lot of promise and production, as the 5-foot-9 guard caused issues for opposing defenses due to her size. Although she was perimeter-oriented on offense, she did a great job of using her length on defense to protect the interior, completing a number of games where she recorded several blocks and grabbed a large number of rebounds.
Zanaiya Days, Sr., Pocono Mountain East
Days was an effective inside-out scorer for a Cardinals team that had the second-most wins on the mountain. When she wasn't knocking down a catch-and-shoot 3-pointer, she was attacking the rim, whether it be in a halfcourt set or in transition. Additionally, she rebounded with a high level of physicality, going against taller players and coming up with the ball.
Olivia Protheroe, Jr., Notre Dame - East Stroudsburg
The junior guard was one of the best scorers on the mountain this season, averaging 18.6 points per game while converting 46 3-pointers. Protheroe also tied the school's single-game scoring record with a 50-point game and was the best player for Notre Dame girls basketball's first district title in program history.
She also averaged four rebounds, four assists and 5.7 steals per game.
McKayla Strunk, Sr., Stroudsburg
The older Strunk sister led the Mounties to the best record on the mountain while averaging 18.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 3.5 steals and 1.7 blocks per game. The East Stroudsburg University commit and Pocono Record Player of the Year. ends her high school career with the program record for single-season and career 3-pointers made.
Teagan Strunk, Jr., Stroudsburg
After a decent sophomore season, Strunk took a big step forward as a scorer during her junior year, using her strength to create contact for finishes in the paint and mid-range jumpers. She isn't afraid to mix it up (she had the black eye to prove it) while serving as a primary ball handler for Matt Field.
She returns on the short list for All-Area Player of the Year as a senior.

All-Area Second Team
Amber Beckworth, Sr., East Stroudsburg North
Beckworth continued to be a reliable interior presence for Jerome Taylor and the Timberwolves, proving once again to be one of the best rebounders in the area. She's also a player that can get going on the interior — at about 5 feet, 10 inches, she's a tough guard for opposing frontcourt players.
Jodi Bowen, So., Pocono Mountain West
The silver lining for West's down year was the number of young players Jim Dempsey can build around, and that's highlighted by Bowen. She was challenged in her first year as a full-time varsity player, but she's had some explosive games for the Panthers, including a 20-point, 15-rebound performance against East and a 29-point game against North.
There's another level she can reach if she continues to improve.
Emily Bozena, Sr., Stroudsburg
Bozena was often a reliable third option for Stroudsburg this season, but there were times the senior guard put together a 20-point game to be her team's leading scorer. She's not a flashy player, but she has solid fundamentals with an efficient shooting stroke, which is an ideal complementary player for any successful team.
Gianna DeJesus, Fr., East Stroudsburg South
DeJesus was bright spot for first-year coach Jose Hernandez and the rebuilding Cavaliers, serving as South's primary ball-handler and lead guard. There were times the inexperience showed, but in a lot of divisional games she showed the potential to be the best player on the floor.
McKenna Snyder, Sr., Pocono Mountain East
Snyder may be remembered most for her half-court buzzer-beater against Pleasant Valley, but the lefty sharpshooter was one of the most aggressive perimeter defenders in the area, consistently jumping in passing lanes and recording steals. While she also was a reliable perimeter shooter, Snyder was a willing facilitator for first-year coach Ben Battle.
