Strasbourg’s Loïc Désiré contender to replace Rennes’ sporting director Frederic Massara
According to a report from Ouest France, Stade Rennais sporting director Frederic Massara is on his way out from the Breton club and will likely leave his role at the end of the season.
It has been a disappointing stint in the north of France for the former AC Milan sporting director, who only joined the club in early July. Massara has borne the brunt of a failed summer transfer window, which saw the club spend over €80 million on (predominantly young) players, many of whom have since been moved on, such as Jota, Albert Grønbaek, and Glen Kamara.
Ouest France writes that the change of direction in the winter window with experienced Ligue 1 veterans like Brice Samba and Seko Fofana brought into the side was sparked by the appointment of Arnaud Pouille as president in October.
Rennes reportedly have several candidates in mind for Massara’s successor, with RC Strasbourg Alsace’s Loïc Désiré thought to be among the most serious of the candidates being considered.
