Social media explodes as UNC basketball is in March Madness 2025

North Carolina was sweating multiple days after a loss to Duke in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament for this moment. Just minutes into the selection show on ESPN, the Tar Heels' name was announced as a first-four team in the NCAA Tournament, making March Madness.

They will open as a No. 11 seed, taking on San Diego State in the first round. The winner will go to play No. 6-seed Ole Miss in later in the week. Social media erupted as UNC's named was called with people on an emotional high and those dealing with their team's being left out as a result.
