Colorado (1-1) won its first game of the 2025 MLB season Saturday. The Rockies defeated Tampa Bay (1-1), 2-1, at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida.
Two former Vols played in the Rockies' win.
Seth Halvorsen pitched the final 1.1 innings for Colorado and earned his first save of the season. He recorded one strikeout and did not allow a hit, run or walk. Halvorsen totaled 14 pitches, including nine strikes.
Former Vol Jordan Beck also started in left field for the Rockies. He went 1-for-3.
Halvorsen was selected by Colorado in the seventh-round (No. 202 overall) of the 2023 MLB draft. He was at Tennessee from 2022-23, but did not play in 2022 due to injury.
Halvorsen (3-3) appeared in 25 games, including one start, for the Vols in 2023. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound pitcher recorded 52 strikeouts and a .381 ERA in 52 innings.
Colorado will next play Tampa Bay on Sunday at 1:40 p.m. EDT.
