Opening day for the 2025 MLB season was held March 18 between the Dodgers and Cubs in Tokyo, Japan. MLB's 28 other teams opened their 2025 seasons March 27-28.
Four former Vols were on 2025 MLB opening day rosters: Jordan Beck (Colorado), Garrett Crochet (Boston), Seth Halvorsen (Colorado) and Ben Joyce (Angels).
Crochet played for Tennessee from 2018-20 and was selected by the White Sox in the 2020 MLB draft (No. 11 overall). He was traded to the Red Sox following the 2024 season.
Beck was drafted by Colorado (No. 38 overall) in 2022 and played for the Vols from 2020-22. Halvorsen was also selected by the Rockies in 2023 during the seventh-round (No. 202 overall) after playing at Tennessee from 2022-23.
Joyce played for the Vols from 2021-22 and was drafted in the third round by the Angles in 2022 (No. 89 overall).
