PEORIA — Bradley basketball associate head coach Mike Bargen is joining the basketball staff at Indiana University under new head coach Darian DeVries. The Hoosiers are expected to announce the move soon.
Bargen is the second top assistant from Bradley head coach Brian Wardle's coaching staff to leave the program since the 2024-25 season ended. He follows Jimmie Foster, who left to become lead assistant at Colorado State.
Bargen served as a graduate assistant at Creighton when DeVriese was on that staff as an assistant coach. He joined the Bradley program in 2015 and went on to be its offensive coordinator.
Bargen was part of a coaching staff that led the Braves to Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championships in 2019 and 2020, won the first regular-season Valley championship in 27 years in 2022-23 and went to the NIT three straight seasons.
Bargen was in his 10th year with Bradley, brought in by Wardle to help rebuild the program. The two were teammates at Marquette, where Bargen played collegiately from 1995-99 and finished as team captain and team MVP during his senior season.
DeVries coached in the Valley against Bradley and Bargen, and led Drake past Bradley in the 2022-23 MVC tournament title game to claim the conference's NCAA automatic bid.
