We are in week six of the college baseball season and it is time for some SEC baseball power rankings. We have two new teams in 2025 as Texas and Oklahoma have entered the fold to make the toughest conference in college baseball even tougher.
It's been smooth sailing for Texas and Oklahoma so far. Both are ranked with two series wins to open SEC play.
As for the defending National Champions, the Tennessee Volunteers, they are still rolling on Rocky Top. They are No. 1 in the country and they will remain that way until an SEC team proves to be a worthy challenger.
Two teams that have been a letdown so far are the Texas A&M Aggies and the Florida Gators. Both teams entered the season with high hopes and expectations, but both find themselves 0-6 in conference play to start the year.
Here are your SEC baseball power rankings after two weeks of conference play.
1. Tennessee Volunteers
The defending National Champs are 22-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play so far. In the words of former Arizona Cardinals head coach Dennis Green, "They are who we thought they were."
They are the best team in the country and that will remain true until someone can knock them off of that pedestal. Alabama was able to take one game from the Vols but that is all they could manage as Tennessee took two out of three from the Tide and swept the Gators.
2. Georgia Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs are 24-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. They have been one of the most impressive teams I have seen this season. Their lineup is lethal. In half of their games, they have scored 10 runs or more. They took two out of three games against Kentucky and last weekend they swept the Gators in the swamp.
3. Arkansas Razorbacks
The Arkansas Razorbacks are 23-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. They won a series against Ole Miss and then swept South Carolina. Arkansas has been one of the best teams in the conference for the past few seasons and that is not going to change this year.
4. Texas Longhorns
The Texas Longhorns come in at No. 4 on the SEC power rankings after taking the series against No. 2 LSU. They are 19-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play. They swept Mississippi State and lost game one to LSU. Other than that, Texas dropped a mid-week game against UTSA and they lost their first game of the season against Louisville. They have a great chance to improve their conference record to 8-1 if they can sweep Missouri this weekend.
5. LSU Tigers
LSU is 22-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Tigers swept Missouri and won game one against Texas before losing the final two games and dropping the series. This team had some woes with the bullpen on Saturday and did not get a quality start on Sunday but they had their chances to win the series. The Tigers will host Mississippi State this weekend.
6. Alabama Crimson Tide
Two words: Justin Lebron. If you do not know that name you might want to get familiar with it. He is a star player for the Crimson Tide and he helped them start the season off 16-0 before finally losing their first game. The Tide are 22-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play as they swept Texas A&M and took game one against Tennessee before losing the final two games and the overall series.
7. Auburn Tigers
The Auburn Tigers are off to a 19-5 start overall and a 4-2 start in conference play. The Tigers have taken a series against Vanderbilt and Kentucky so far. They also have a really impressive string of wins against Ohio State, Oregon State, and Baylor in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series.
8. Oklahoma Sooners
The Oklahoma Sooners are a really good baseball team. They are 20-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Oklahoma played in the Round Rock Classic against Minnesota, No. 5 Oregon State, and Virginia and the Sooners came away undefeated. Their two conference series have been against South Carolina and Mississippi State who they took two out of three games against. They should have a good test against Alabama this weekend.
9. Vanderbilt Commodores
Vandy is 19-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play so far but I am not sold on them yet. Looking at their five losses, they lost a series to Auburn and they lost to USC and UCONN in the Southern California College Baseball Classic.
USC is 14-9 overall, and UConn is just 10-11, and the Huskies lost to Missouri, who is the worst team in the SEC. The Commodores are a team that is going to have to get some high-quality wins to impress me if they want to move up the power rankings. Beating Arkansas this weekend would accomplish that goal.
10. Ole Miss Rebels
It is a huge testament to the depth and talent of the SEC that the No. 10 team in the power rankings is one of the Top 25 teams in the country. The Ole Miss Rebels are 18-5 and 4-2 in conference play so far. They dropped a series to Arkansas to start conference play before sweeping Missouri last weekend. They have an interesting matchup this weekend with the reeling Florida Gators who are currently 0-6 in conference play.
11. Kentucky Wildcats
Kentucky is 15-7 and 2-4 in conference play so far. The Wildcats were able to take one out of three games against Auburn and against Georgia, which is what puts them ahead of Florida at the moment. This weekend they will have a good shot of winning their first conference series as they take on Texas A&M.
12. Florida Gators
The Florida Gators are a team I did not think would find themselves this low in the rankings. Don't get it twisted, this team is talented. They just have to figure some things out. The Gators are 18-8 overall and 0-6 in conference play. They were swept by No. 1 Tennessee and No. 2/3 Georgia. They have one of the best wins in the conference as they beat No. 5 Florida State earlier in the season.
13. South Carolina Gamecocks
The Gamecocks are 17-8 so far this season and 1-5 in conference play. All of their losses have come to good teams. They were swept by Clemson in a three-game series, they were swept by Arkansas, and they dropped two out of three games to Oklahoma. This weekend, they have a matchup at home against the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers.
14. Mississippi State Bulldogs
Mississippi State is a team I am unsure about. They are 15-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play. They were swept by Texas but they took one game from Oklahoma. The Bulldogs have played some good opponents so far and lost some close games so it is hard to really gauge how good they are.
15. Texas A&M Aggies
Not in a million years did I think we would find Texas A&M anywhere near the bottom of the SEC standings this season? The Aggies were one of the higher-rated SEC teams entering the season but after an injury to one of their star players, the wheels have fallen off the wagon. The Aggies are 11-12 overall and 0-6 in conference play. They were swept at home by Alabama and on the road against Vanderbilt.
16. Missouri Tigers
While some of my rankings could be discussed, Missouri is without a doubt the worst team in the SEC. The Tigers are 8-14 overall and 0-6 in conference play. Their schedule does not get any easier either as they have a matchup with Texas this weekend.
