Seahawks select the top receiver in latest CBS mock draft

Mock draft season never rests, and another one from CBS Sports has been released. The Seattle Seahawks are in dire need of help along their offensive line, but with 10 total draft picks - including five in the first three rounds - Seattle may be uniquely positioned to address that particular need later... and draft dynamic talent in the first round instead.

Such is the case with CBS Sports' latest mock draft, which has the Seahawks selecting Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan at No. 18 overall. If this ends up being the case, it will be the second time in the last three years Seattle has drafted a wide receiver in the first round, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba being a first rounder during the 2023 NFL draft.

CBS Sports writes in their analysis of the pick:

The Seahawks need help along the offensive line, but with Tetairoa McMillan falling into their lap, they jump at the opportunity to add a big-bodied complement to breakout star Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

In this mock draft, McMillan isn't the first receiver off the board the way JSN was in 2023. Texas' Matthew Golden is mocked to the Dallas Cowboys at pick No. 12 overall. However, this does not change the fact McMillan is widely considered to be the best receiver in the draft. CBS and ESPN both have him as their No. 1 receiver prospect. ESPN has McMillan as the No. 15 overall prospect, and CBS has him all the way up at No. 7, and with good reason.

In the last two seasons, the Wildcats standout has hauled in 174 receptions for 2,721 yards and 18 touchdowns. His efforts earned him consensus All-American honors in 2024, as well as being first-team All-Big XII. By all accounts, McMillan is an elite prospect who will likely be an outstanding professional.

Should he be at No. 18 overall, it would be incredibly difficult for the Seahawks to pass up such a top prospect. Even with the additions of Cooper Kupp and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Seattle still needs to do some work to replace the athleticism lost with DK Metcalf being traded away.
