Seahawks now have no choice but to improve OL via 2025 NFL draft
The Seattle Seahawks have not addressed their lackluster offensive line via NFL free agency. General manager John Schneider decided against signing various targets, including three players he recently hosted on visits. Dillon Radunz (New Orleans Saints), Lucas Patrick (Cincinnati Bengals), and Teven Jenkins (Cleveland Browns) all signed elsewhere shortly after visiting Seattle.
The outcome leaves Schneider with little choice but to improve the offensive line via the 2025 NFL draft. Luckily for the Seahawks, they are flush with draft capital. Schneider must draft offensive linemen early and often, at least doubling down with his early selections.
Schneider will almost certainly target an offensive linemen at No. 18 overall. Ohio State's Donovan Jackson or Texas' Kelvin Banks Jr. could be an option. The Seahawks are then scheduled to pick again at Nos. 50, 52, and 82. At least one more offensive linemen must be selected.
North Dakota State's Grey Zabel should be a shortlisted target. Zabel is versatile enough to play guard/center, but various NFL scouts we've spoken with see him thriving at center in a zone-based scheme. He'd potentially replace Olu Oluwatimi in Klint Kubiak's system.
The Seahawks are also heavily relying on Kubiak and offensive line coach John Benton to draft and develop talent immediately. Schneider also hasn't given up on young blockers like Oluwatimi, Anthony Bradford, Christian Haynes, and Sataoa Laumea. Kubiak and Benton will be tasked with getting more out of those in-house options than Ryan Grubb did last season.
The Seahawks have taken a cautious approach to offensive linemen in free agency. It's backed them into a corner. The 2025 NFL draft represents Schneider's final opportunity to truly improve the offensive line.
