The San Jose Sharks have recalled goaltender Gabriel Carriere from the San Jose Barracuda, it was announced Thursday.

Carriere, who is in his first full season of pro hockey, has split time this year between the Barracuda and the ECHL's Wichita Thunder. In 25 ECHL appearances, he has posted a record of 14-9-2, a 2.60 GAA and a .922 SP. With the Barracuda, Carriere has collected a record of 8-8-3 to go along with a 3.13 GAA and a .893 SP in 19 appearances.

Hailing from Ottawa, Ont., Carriere turned pro with the Barracuda at the end of last season after spending four seasons in the NCAA with the University of Vermont.

Having shown well across two levels this season, Carriere has proven he is well suited for the pro game. Although he likely won't see any game time with the Sharks, he can take this as a learning opportunity while continuing to develop in the minors.
