NFL free agency: All Pro WR Cooper Kupp makes decision on next team, snubs Texans
Cooper Kupp won't be coming to NRG Stadium iun 2025 after all.
Despite being rumored to be the Kupp sweepstakes following his release from the Los Angeles Rams, the Houston Texans won't be signing the All-Pro receiver. Instead, Kupp has agreed to a three-year, $45 million with the Seattle Seahawks, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Kupp, who set the triple crown record in 2021 en route to winning Offensive Player of the Year, began his college career as a zero star recruit at Eastern Washington. He grew up in Yakima, which is roughly three hours outside of the Emerald City.
After being away from his home state for eight years, Kupp is returning. He acknowledged the Seahawks news Friday by posting to X: "Washington back across my chest. Let's go!!!!!"
The Seahawks are hopeful they'll get a taste of old school Kupp at Lumen Field in 2025 and beyond. His season came during that Super Bowl-winning year in 2021, where he posted career highs in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947) and touchdowns (16).

Kupp, who turns 32 this offseason, has been a productive receiver when healthy since then, but he missed eight games in 2022, five games in 2023 and five games in 2024 with various injuries. In Seattle, he'll be the new No. 2 target for recently signed quarterback Sam Darnold while playing opposite o Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
When healthy, he is still a talented receiver, so keeping him on the field will be key for Seattle. Last season, he hauled in 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games while helping the Rams reach the NFC divisonal round.
Houston, which was linked to Kupp as a trade destination, still must add in another pass-catcher to pair with Pro Bowler Nico Collins and Christian Kirk in 2025 for C.J. Stroud. Tank Dell's injury has made the position a priority in the draft, so missing on Kupp might have Houston locked in with one of its first two picks targeting a playmaker come next month in Green Bay.
