Report: Tetairoa McMillan to Jaguars in NFL draft 'makes so much sense'

In an exclusive interview with John Shipley of Jaguars on Sports Illustrated, a pair of NFL executives believe that Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan to the Jacksonville Jaguars in this year's draft "makes so much sense."

McMillan is widely considered the top wide receiver prospect in this year's draft, and the Jaguars have a need at the position.

For one, more depth is needed after moving on from Christian Kirk, Josh Reynolds, and Devin Durvernay, but in addition to that, a true No. 2 option in the offense to pair with Brian Thomas Jr. can take the passing game to a whole new level.

Over the last two seasons, McMillan has totaled a whopping 260 targets during that span. He's gone on to haul in 67% of those passes and an impressive 15.6 yards per catch with 18 touchdowns, according to PFF.

He has good speed, reportedly running the low 4.5s at his Pro Day, and excellent size, measuring in at 6-4 - 219 pounds.

Pairing McMillan and Thomas would give the Jaguars two receivers who are capable of attacking all levels of the field and can each line up out wide or in the slot. This then gives Liam Coen a variety of ways that he can attack opposing defenses.

The fit certainly makes sense. However, the big question is, will the Jaguars take McMillan at fifth overall?

In terms of the big board, the general consensus seems to be that McMillan at fifth overall is early. Not to mention that the Jaguars have a need for a defensive tackle as well, and the top prospect at that position, Mason Graham, could be an option for them there.

Perhaps this leads to the Jaguars trading down if they believe they can get McMillan several picks later. Or maybe the big board takes a back seat to positional need, and the Jaguars swing big at bolstering their passing game.
