Report: Chelsea’s transfer stance on player branded “total waste of money” revealed
Christopher Nkunku is likely to leave Chelsea at the end of the season as the Blues prepare for another busy summer according to reports.
Nkunku has really struggled to rediscover the form that persuaded Chelsea to pay RB Leipzig £52m for his signature in the summer of 2023.
The 27-year-old has shown glimpses, but he’s been plagued by injury issues and has seen his opportunities limited this season as he’s played second fiddle to Nicolas Jackson.
Nkunku increasingly likely to leave Chelsea this summer
Nkunku has had more of a run in the side recently with Jackson currently out injured, but he’s failed to take his chances and has put in a series of disappointing performances.
Chelsea are expected to sell as many as seven or eight players in order to fund a move for a striker and Give Me Sport have reported Nkunku is increasingly likely to leave.
They report there’s a growing feeling the France international wants to leave and begin a new challenge elsewhere, with Nkunku believed to already be assessing potential options.
Give Me Sport add Nkunku wants a club that plays a style more suited to his strengths, whilst Chelsea viewed the second half of the season as a final chance for the attacker to turn his fortunes around.
Nkunku was strongly linked with a move to Bayern Munich in January, but it’s believed Chelsea wanted £65m for the former RB Leipzig man.
The Frenchman has been criticised for his performances, and the move to west London just simply hasn’t worked out for him.
Nkunku has scored 14 goals this season, although only three of those have come in the Premier League with the rest coming in the cup competitions.
Unfortunately Nkunku just hasn’t been able to nail down a consistent place in the side in his preferred position because of the form of Cole Palmer, and whilst he needs to have done more circumstances have also played a part in a disappointing time at the club.
