Real Madrid midfield ace could return in time for UCL quarter-final first leg vs Arsenal

Dani Ceballos was one of Real Madrid’s standout midfielders since the turn of the year before he picked up an injury late February.

The former Arsenal star picked up a muscle injury during the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal against Real Sociedad, which ruled him out for at least two months.

This meant that Real Madrid would have the Spaniard missing in action at least until the end of April.

Ceballos could return by first leg Arsenal tie

However, a recent report from SPORT suggests that Ceballos has made a rapid recovery and could be back in action as soon as next month’s first leg UEFA Champions League quarterfinal game against Arsenal.

Real Madrid take on the Gunners on April 8, which will be played at home before Los Blancos travel to Emirates on April 16.

As per the report, Ceballos could start touching the ball this week and depending on the outcome, could join team training as soon as next week.

If the Spaniard can return to action by the time Real Madrid take on Arsenal, he would cut his recovery time to two weeks – a testament to the player’s hard-working nature.

This would be quite significant for Real Madrid, who have limited options in midfield, especially amid the topsy-turvy form of Eduardo Camavinga while Federico Valverde has operated at right-back on many ocassions.

Ceballos’ presence in the team, therefore, could go a long way in helping Carlo Ancelotti rotate the squad more freely, especially as we approach the final phase of the campaign.
