Chelsea are confident they will complete a summer move for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi according to reports.
The Blues are set to have another busy summer and could look to fund their moves in the market by selling as many as seven or eight players.
Chelsea face arguably their most important window under the new ownership, with Enzo Maresca’s side looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker.
Chelsea confident they will complete Guehi deal
There’s set to be a lot of movement at centre back this summer with Axel Disasi set to leave, whilst it’s possible Trevoh Chalobah could also follow him out the exit door.
The Blues already have Mamadou Sarr arriving from Strasbourg having agreed a deal for the 19-year-old in January, whilst they’ve also been strongly linked with Dean Huijsen and Guehi.
Chelsea explored a move for Guehi in January, although it’s thought they decided against going further due to cost, but they are said to have retained their interest.
However, Give Me Sport have reported Chelsea are planning to make Guehi their priority target, as they feel they have a better chance of signing the 24-year-old than any of their other targets.
The report adds figures internally at Chelsea are convinced they will sign Guehi this summer as they feel he’s still got an emotional attachment to the club.
Give Me Sport state Newcastle would likely be the biggest competitors, while important decision makers believe Guehi would make an instant impact due to his experience in the Premier League.
Guehi, who came through the ranks at Chelsea before being sold to the Eagles for £18m in 2021, will have just one year remaining on his contract in the summer, and it appears at this stage he’s unlikely to be pen a new deal.
