Rams 7-round mock draft: Latest projections after 1st wave of free agency
The first wave of free agency is in the books and the Los Angeles Rams were aggressive in their pursuit of improving a roster that got to the divisional round last year. They added Davante Adams, brought back Alaric Jackson, re-signed Tutu Atwell and bolstered the trenches with Poona Ford and Coleman Shelton.
Their moves in free agency have freed them up to take the best available players in the draft next month, preventing them from forcing a pick to fill a need. So where do they turn now? With no glaring holes on the roster, they can simply target premier talents regardless of position.
In our latest mock draft, we go defense first in Round 1 with one of the best athletes in the class, Nick Emmanwori. The offense gets some attention with the next four picks before turning back to the defense in the sixth round. The Rams don't end up with a quarterback or linebacker, but that's in part thanks to the return of Jimmy Garoppolo and Emmanwori's versatility on defense.
26. S Nick Emmanwori, South Carolina
Emmanwori may not fill a big need for the Rams as a safety, but he’s much more than that. He’s 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, which is 2 inches taller and only 8 pounds lighter than Omar Speights. He has the body of a linebacker but the athleticism of a safety, testing off the charts at the NFL combine. He ran a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash, jumped 43 inches in the vertical and 11 feet, 6 inches in the broad.
While technically listed as a safety, he can be a versatile defender for the Rams, playing all over the field from first to third down. The Rams already prefer to use three safeties and one linebacker on passing downs so Emmanwori would fit right in alongside Kamren Kinchens Quentin Lake and even Jaylen McCollough.
90. TE Elijah Arroyo, Miami (Florida)
Continuing the theme of building a starting five in basketball, Arroyo would slide right in as a big body in the middle of the field with his 6-foot-5 frame and outstanding athleticism. He would give Matthew Stafford a target with a wide catch radius and yards-after-catch skills, which have been lacking at the tight end position for some time in L.A.
101. WR Savion Williams, TCU
Even after signing Davante Adams and Tutu Atwell, the Rams won’t rule out adding another wide receiver early in the draft. Williams is almost 6-foot-4 and has 4.48 speed, making him a good blend of size and speed to go with Puka Nacua, Adams and Atwell. With the depth the Rams have created at wide receiver, he would be afforded the chance to learn as a rookie before stepping into a bigger role in Year 2.
There are concerns about his hands and route running but those are things he can work on in the NFL, especially with a coach like Eric Yarber teaching him.
127. OT Logan Brown, Kansas
Brown tested really well for a 6-foot-6 tackle at the NFL combine, improving his stock leading up to the draft. He had the second-best 20-yard shuttle time among all offensive linemen, showing the agility and movement skills he has on the edge. The Rams don’t need a left tackle after re-signing Alaric Jackson but Brown could be the successor to Rob Havenstein at right tackle.
190. RB Jaydon Blue, Texas
Despite running back being a fringe need, Blue would be a nice addition to that room. He’s an explosive runner with breakaway speed and is a terrific receiver out of the backfield, making him just the running back Los Angeles could use behind Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. They need to create more big plays on the ground and better utilize their running backs as receivers, which Blue would help with. He may not last until the sixth round but if he does, Sean McVay may have a hard time passing him up.
195. CB Zah Frazier, UTSA
Frazier is almost 6-foot-3 and ran a 4.36 in the 40 with a top speed of 22.67 mph. That’s outstanding for a cornerback his size. He is on the slender side, weighing just 186 pounds but he has long arms, great ball skills (six INTs in 2024) and the speed to hold up on the outside as a boundary corner. The Rams badly need cornerback help and Frazier could be a starter at some point in his second season after being a backup initially as a rookie in 2025.
201. DT Cam Jackson, Florida
Jackson is one of the biggest defensive prospects in the class, coming in at 6-foot-6 and 328 pounds. He doesn’t move particularly well, which isn't surprising given his size, and he wasn’t a consistent pass rusher for Florida, but the Rams would be drafting him to clog up the middle. He could back up Poona Ford initially and help out on early downs as a run defender, with the potential to round into a more reliable player.
202. OLB Barryn Sorrell, Texas
With Michael Hoecht gone, it’s time for the Rams to reload at edge rusher. Sorrell is slightly undersized at 6-foot-3 and 256 pounds, which is likely to drop him down some draft boards. But that lack of size and length hasn’t scared the Rams away before, so he could fit well in Chris Shula’s 3-4 scheme. They don’t need another starter, but rather a rotational player who can still provide some juice off the edge when Jared Verse and Byron Young need a break.
