With the draft under a month away, it’s time to check in on the Raiders’ defensive tackle position to give it a condition of either Strong, Stable, Unstable, Serious, or Critical.
Starters: Christian Wilkins, Adam Butler
Backups: Jonah Laulu, Leki Fotu, Zach Carter, Tyler Manoa
Wilkins was the team's big free agent addition last offseason. He was lost for the season in week three, so they got a good long look at several other interior defenders in his absence. Adam Butler was the primary beneficiary of Wilkins's loss, posting a career year and the discovery among the group was 7th round rookie Jonah Laulu who was picked up off waivers from the Colts.
Condition: Stable
The biggest question mark of the offseason among this group was whether they would be able to get Adam Butler back. He was looking for a long term deal and had earned it with his play last season. The gave him the deal he had been seeking and thus have their two starters under contract for next season.
Draft projection
With Wilkins and Butler in place and some decent depth at the position, the Raiders could afford to leave this position alone in the draft and focus their efforts elsewhere.
